 Senator Wencesclas Lambert

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti ( – After hundreds took the streets in Jacmel and after the filing of a criminal complaint against himself, Senator Wencesclas Lambert (Sud-Est/Inite) apologized to his family, colleagues and young victim, Daniel Theodore, whom he broke his jaw causing the loss of teeth.

During the press conference, which aired on Radio Caraibes, Senator Lambert promised that such a situation would not happen again. Lambert advised his victim, a student at a college in the South East, not to enter activities that he is not invited.

Lambert said that he would now always be accompanied by bodyguards in order to handle hecklers.

The Thursday apology is a far cry from days prior when Lambert seemingly gloated about the violence he imparted on Theodore. Furthermore, when asked if he would give an apology, the senator said it was the victim who should apologize.

The victim, Theodore, says that Senator Lambert, who has a degree in dentistry, new the damage his punches would cause. The victim says he has been receiving threats since the incidents.

Lawyers for the victim filed a criminal complaint with the courts in the South East and Senator Lambert said he would appear before justice. Enjoying parliamentary immunity from judicial pursuits, Senator Lambert denied rumors that he would be resigning as a senator.
